This offseason, the Cleveland Browns may have to make some difficult choices, like letting go of star pass-catcher Amari Cooper.

According to a recent hypothetical trade proposal from Bleacher Report, Cooper is being targeted by the New England Patriots. The Browns would receive some cap relief from it, but at a high price.

To start the Jerod Mayo era in New England, the Patriots would acquire a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver. Cooper would also be reunited with Alex Van Pelt, the former offensive coordinator of the Browns who currently has a different job with the Pats.

Would Amari Cooper, the Browns’ outstanding receiver, be cut? Not likely if they can stay away from it. Moving him would free up $12.4 million in cap space, but Cleveland has a $20.6 million deficit. This was said by Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. “The New England Patriots would love to acquire the 29-year-old if he can be had.”

Regretfully, it seems unlikely that the Browns will consider dealing Cooper to New England. Despite collecting receptions from four different quarterbacks during the previous season, he led the Browns offense. On 72 catches, he amassed 1,250 yards.

Cooper’s performance against the Houston Texans on Christmas Eve was exceptional. A franchise single-game record of 265 yards was set by him on 11 receptions.

It’s intended for records to be broken. Ultimately, it’s all just statistics. Although I don’t take anything for granted, Cooper stated on January 10 that it was the past. “You know, after I finish playing, I want to look back on my career in that sentimental kind of way,” I tell myself every time.

Cooper is a significant player on the roster, but the Browns can negotiate an extension to lessen the cap burden. Despite turning thirty the next season, he still has a lot of energy left. The Browns are considering a possible extension, and Cooper’s anti-diva mindset and durability on the field are important considerations.
