The Baltimore Ravens had an elite defense the whole previous season, despite losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship. With the acquisition of Haason Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles in the summer, Baltimore may be able to overcome their current struggles in the upcoming season.
The Philadelphia Eagles, like Baltimore, finished the regular season strong, finishing with an 11-6 record that put them in second place in the NFC East division. Sadly, they were defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a score of 32-9 in the wild card round.
That blowout loss was seen by many as one of the worst in NFL history, leading the front office to fire defensive coordinator Sean Desai and offensive coordinator Brian Johnson. Even if that’s the case, the $45 million lineback still had a good run with the Eagles last season by posting 11 sacks and 35 quarterback pressures.
With Philadelphia giving him permission to seek a trade, the Baltimore Ravens need to pounce on Reddick before any other team makes their move. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report explains more:
“The 29-year-old would be a fantastic addition to Baltimore’s front seven. He just finished a terrific season with 11 sacks and 35 quarterback pressures.
On the trade market, pass-rushers of Reddick’s level usually fetch first-round compensation. His price point might be maintained, though, by a strong free-agent class and Philadelphia’s apparent readiness to trade for him.
The Washington Commanders received a second-round pick for Montez Sweat at the trade deadline, which may be the only price the Temple product can fetch. For the Ravens, landing Reddick in that price range—possibly with a 2025 selection—would be ideal, Knox wrote.
With Reddick, a competitor like the Ravens will undoubtedly maximize his potential. It would be intriguing to watch how he responds to his comeback or if the Eagles are able to trade him to another team.
