Tight end Jake Ferguson of the Dallas Cowboys recently discussed quarterback Dak Prescott’s struggles following yet another disappointing postseason loss on the NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access” program.

Ferguson said, “I know Dak is ready for the next season, that’s all you can do,” according to NFL.com’s Kevin Patra. “You cannot reflect on the past and say something like, ‘Oh, I made a bad play, so we lost.'” No, we simply move on to the next. It’s finished now. We completed the game, the timer went off, and it was time to go on to the following week.”

Prescott helped the Cowboys win the NFC East title with a 12-5 record and subsequently was named a finalist for The Associated Press’ 2023 NFL MVP Award. However, many analysts and fans criticized the 30-year-old after he tossed a pair of interceptions in Dallas’ home 48-32 wild-card playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers. That result dropped Prescott’s postseason record to 2-5, and it left the Cowboys still looking to complete their first trip to an NFC Championship Game since they won the Super Bowl in January 1996.

“I always like to think, ‘We’re the Dallas Cowboys, every team that’s going to play us is going to bring their all every single time,'” Ferguson discussed the events that transpired versus Green Bay on January 14. “We won’t receive any comments along the lines of ‘We don’t need to bring that hard against them.’ They’re exerting every effort to harm us. It’s a mindset of “kill or be killed.” All we have to do is kill them first.”

Jerry Jones, the general manager and owner of the Cowboys, will have an interesting offseason as head coach Mike McCarthy approaches the last year of his contract. Jones will also need to make decisions about Prescott’s contract, which will have a $59.46 million salary cap impact in 2024.

Next January, McCarthy and Prescott will have another opportunity to lead the Cowboys to at least the NFC championship round. Ferguson is confident that his squad will put in the required preparation to be prepared to go “straight through the wall” in the hopes of winning the Super Bowl.
