Perhaps it’s more of a validation of common sense. Sportsnet and HNIC reporter Elliotte Friedman listed a few teams interested in Penguins winger Jake Guentzel during the Headlines part of Hockey Night in Canada. He also affirmed that organisations think there will be a Penguins goalkeeper available in the NHL trade deadline.

Goalies have been mentioned several times in Pittsburgh Hockey Now’s trade analysis of the Penguins, including an earlier report this week suggesting that GM Kyle Dubas’s top trade piece would be Alex Nedeljkovic, president of hockey operations. Friedman appeared to agree that one of the goalies for the Penguins might be moving.

The Penguins will take into consideration the position of (goalie), which I believe people have begun to inquire about,” Friedman stated. “They have Nedeljkovic and (Tristan) Jarry playing in the NHL. Joel Blomqvist, one of their very talented prospects, is enjoying a fantastic season in the American Hockey League. The Vegas Golden Knights have dropped five of their previous six games, including Saturday night’s shootout setback to the Ottawa Senators. Their starting lineup has been severely damaged by injuries, with centre Jack Eichel and captain Mark Stone suffering serious wounds.

Additionally, Friedman hinted at Jim Rutherford, the current president of hockey operations for the Vancouver Canucks and former general manager of the Penguins:

“Jim Rutherford has a lot of experience with this. They believe they can prevail. There are numerous options available to him.
