Petition · Demand the Dismissal of Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh for Continued Playoff Failures · Change.orgThe Baltimore Ravens performed better last season than they did in 2022–23, based on their performance. However, they may have to let Ronnie Stanley go in the offseason if they really want to compete.
Despite losing a number of players to injury in the preseason and around the beginning of the 2023 season, including Trayvon Mullen, Nick Moore, J.K. Dobbins, Mark Andrews, and Keaton Mitchell, Baltimore enjoyed its finest season since 2019. This was demonstrated amply by the Ravens, who completed the regular season strong and won the NFC North division with a commanding 13-4 record. The Ravens dominated the Houston Texans 34-10 in the playoffs, demonstrating their continued supremacy. And although Baltimore’s run with Lamar Jackson, who had an MVP-caliber season under the direction of one of the top coaching staffs in the NFL, was short-lived as they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, the eventual Super Bowl champions from the previous season.
Some players may need to depart if the Ravens are to make it to the promised land in the upcoming campaign. One of them is offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, who inked a $98 million deal with the team. For further information, see Aaron Schatz’s piece for ESPN:

“Once upon a time, Stanley was a first-team All-Pro, one of the best left tackles in the league. But that was five years ago. Stanley struggled last season for the Ravens, and they rotated him with Patrick Mekari. Stanley hasn’t played a full season since that 2019 All-Pro year, and he ranked 38th in pass block win rate (87.2%) among tackles in 2023. Cutting Stanley before June 1 would save $8.3 million on the salary cap but would leave $17.8 million in dead money for 2024. A post-June 1 cut would save $15 million with $11.2 million in dead money for 2024 and additional dead money in 2025,” Schatz wrote.

Stanley’s replacement isn’t available right now, but it will be simpler for the Ravens to locate one in the draft or through free agency than to extend his deal. If Baltimore succeeds in accomplishing this, there’s a strong possibility they can survive the offseason and go on to have a successful campaign later in the season.
