Charles De Ketelaere, an Atalanta attacker, was not really able to influence the game against AC Milan on Sunday night, despite being expected to be one of the key protagonists.

Stefano Pioli renews his contract with AC Milan: the official statement | AC Milan

There was a lot of focus on the Belgian forward before of Sunday’s Serie A match because he is presently on loan at Atalanta from Milan and may join La Dea permanently in the summer.

As Pianeta Milan and Tuttosport have pointed out, De Ketelaere’s performance against his parent club turned out to be among his worst of the season despite a wonderfully good campaign.

His only real contribution came in the first half, when he set up a good opportunity for Teun Koopmeiners. Gian Piero Gasperini substituted Ademola Lookman for him at halftime. Rafael Leao’s opening goal was cancelled out by a Koopmeiners penalty, and the game ended 1-1.

Given that it appears certain that Atalanta will pay the optional sum at the conclusion of the season to sign him permanently from Milan, this performance shouldn’t have a significant impact on his future.Despite this, De Ketelaere will be disappointed that he was unable to play against his parent team, as this would have been a significant milestone in his Italian football career.
