Danson, who took over as head coach of the Latics last summer and the Warriors on December 1, made two infrequent trips to the DW over the weekend.
He saw the Latics and Cheltenham draw 1-1 before returning to witness the Warriors defeat Penrith to win the global club championship.
And Maloney admitted he’d taken the opportunity to hold face-to-face discussions about the rebuild.
“I spoke to him before the (Friday) game, and I will see him again,” stated Maloney. “He’s a very busy man, but I will also visit him in London in the second half of March during the international break.
“Although we don’t have to talk all the time, I truly appreciate that he and the chairman have always been there for me when I’ve needed them.
“I think that helps me and Gregor (Rioch)…he’s just a good man, who wants us to do well.”
After two recent near-accidents, fans are naturally impatient for clarity. Neither Danson nor anyone else from the new ownership has given any media interviews outlining the Latics’ future.
“I just go back to something he said really early on, after taking over, that he wants to do all our work very quietly, which probably fits with how I am,” stated Maloney.
“That’s him and his team. The chairman and acting CEO, Ben Goodburn, is the same.truly amazing guys—quite reserved but incredibly driven.”
Maloney acknowledged feeling a little irritated with the new owner.
