(Source: Bloomberg) of order to explore the rise of antisemitism and other types of intolerance in the US, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff met on Monday in Massachusetts with civil rights leader Clarence Jones and owner of the New England Patriots, Bob Kraft.

A Super Bowl commercial condemning anti-Semitic sentiment was aired by Kraft’s Foundation to Combat Antisemitism. The commercial featured Jones, who assisted Martin Luther King Jr. in writing his 1963 “I Have a Dream Speech.” Emhoff was in Boston in order to collect funds for the reelection campaign of President Joe Biden.

Emhoff visited the Foxborough offices of the foundation to discover more about its efforts to combat prejudice by keeping an eye on hate speech on the internet and educating the public. They also talked about methods to strengthen the bonds between the Black and Jewish communities. According to a White House statement, the participants “emphasized the urgent need to address antisemitic language and harassment.”

Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris and the first Jewish spouse of a president or vice president, has been an outspoken figure against antisemitism in the Biden White House. Anti-Jewish incidents have spiked since Hamas’s Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, with more than 3,200 reports in the US of harassment, vandalism, public expressions of support for terrorism and assaults in the three months following the attacks, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

Philanthropist Joshua Rales, whose family foundation donated $100 million to Kraft’s organization, Tara Levine, president of the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism and entertainment executive Ron Gillyard also participated in the meeting with Emhoff, according to the White House.

Since the Hamas assault, Emhoff has had several conversations with Jewish leaders and members of the community. In addition, he has taken a prominent public role in promoting the Biden administration’s antisemitic agenda. He visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp last year to commemorate the anniversary of its liberation.

The Kraft group’s Super Bowl commercial is a part of their “Stand Up to Jewish Hate” campaign, which was started last year in response to a number of high-profile instances of antisemitism, including remarks made in public and posts on social media by Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West.
