As Unai Emery weighs his choices for his starting lineup for the rest of the season, Tim Iroegbunam’s improvement has received positive feedback from Aston Villa captain John McGinn.

Due to the enormous number of injuries that Aston Villa has had this season, Unai Emery has frequently had to put his flexibility to the test.

Despite their injury problems, the Villans are still in fourth place and need to maintain their current level of play if they are to qualify for the Champions League.

Villa’s resources have been taxed recently despite their return to form due to three ACL injuries and other less serious setbacks. However, few absences are as worrying as Boubacar Kamara’s season-ending injury earlier this month.

Club captain John McGinn has moved into midfield to try to fill in for his colleague in the Frenchman’s absence, but the Scotsman has revealed that there are other options who would be a better match.

John McGinn makes a compelling argument on Tim Iroegbunam’s position.
Tim Iroegbunam is “close” to playing in midfield for Villa before their match against Luton Town, according to McGinn, who made this revelation in an interview with the Villa News & Record, which BirminghamLive cited.

“Big Tim is pushing and hammering on the door. He is on the verge of entering there.

We have a number of highly versatile members on the team. Although some people have preferences, I don’t really care what role I play. I simply attempt to support the group.

Upon hearing of Kamara’s injury, Iroegbunam was mentioned by many as a potential replacement for the 24-year-old.

After leaving West Brom in 2021, the midfield player has shown promise in Villa’s academy. His most recent loan at QPR highlighted his abilities.

The management may find great use for the academy prospect with regular matchups ahead as the Villans get ready to play again in the Europa Conference League with rotation expected.
