Adam Idah realises dream by making Premier League debut | OffTheBallCeltic has been informed that they would still be ahead of Rangers in the league if they had invested £6 million on a striker rather than signing Adam Idah on loan.
Following his outstanding double against Motherwell over the weekend, the Republic of Ireland striker has been making headlines this week.

Nonetheless, it appears that Rodgers wouldn’t be pursuing Rangers if Celtic had spent big money on Bojan Miovski. Journalist Stephen McGowan says as much.

It’s very difficult to defend having £67 or £72 million in the bank when you’re second to your main competitors and have a great chance of winning the league, McGowan stated [Off The Ball].

All those zeros at the end of your bank account are completely useless if you don’t win the league and if you allow your opponents to go to the Champions League.

And with 12 games remaining, there’s a very significant likelihood of that happening.

“For me, Celtic had a get-out-of-jail card in January.  They have all that money in the bank, they were clearly not quite at it before Christmas, although they did beat Rangers on the 30th of December.

“So they had a real chance to go and splash some money. They could have signed Bojan Miovski. They could have given Aberdeen £6m or whatever.

In my opinion, Celtic had a clear cut case for release in January. Despite the fact that they defeated the Rangers on December 30, they were obviously not nearly ready for Christmas given the amount of money they had in the bank.

Thus, they really had the opportunity to go spend some cash. Bojan Miovski was a potential signing. They might as well have given Aberdeen six million pounds.

I think it’s fair to say that Celtic simply won’t be pursuing the Aberdeen striker. The window to do that was in January but the free-scoring strikers stock has risen so high that we could be priced out of a summer move.
