In Philadelphia, Jaden Springer was just getting noticed. The third-year wing saw uneven playing time for the majority of the season until a five-game stretch in late January and early February saw him average 22.1 minutes per night, including a start. He was about to seize an important chance.
Then, just prior to the trade deadline on February 8, Springer received a call informing him that he had been traded from the 76ers to the Celtics.
A little stunned, to be honest, was how Springer described himself in his Celtics locker on Tuesday before playing his first game against his old team. “I was not prepared for that.”

As of Tuesday, Springer had only appeared in two games for the Celtics, both of which came during their disastrous victory over the Bulls and Knicks the previous week. He was out for the C’s opening four games while he healed from an ankle ailment. However, in the nearly three weeks since the trade, his adjustment to Boston appears to be going smoothly. He claimed that having assistant Sam Cassell, who coached him in Philadelphia, around has been helpful and that he is content with his new surroundings.

In his first season as the Sixers’ coach, Nick Nurse, remained reticent when asked if he was shocked to see Springer traded.
Nurse responded, “Listen, he does a couple of things really well.” “Despite his youth, he possesses a strong ball defence and can move the ball towards the hoop with some physicality.” Although he’s still working on the shooting portion, he was making progress with it as well. I mean, I really hope he keeps getting better and makes it into the league.
The exact nature of Springer’s role with the Celtics is still unknown. He’s more of a developing piece right now for a strong squad that is about to win a championship. However, the Celtics were up eight games with 25 games remaining, and it appears that they would secure the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
