Running back Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans is about to enter free agency for the first time in his career. Given the high demand for elite running backs in this market, we may already know where Henry might wind up. Before the trade deadline of October 31st of last season, according to NFL source Ari Meirov, the Titans attempted to move Henry to the Baltimore Ravens.

Although it is obvious that the deal was not hammered out, it does reveal one thing. It’s obvious that the Ravens are considering the former Alabama running back. Running backs who are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents on March 13 have Henry at the top of the list.

Almost all of those names have been connected to the Ravens; however, Henry might be the finest combination with two-time league MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson. The Ravens lead the NFL in rushing yards per game (156.5) without a clear No. 1 running back, and having a featured back like Henry might improve that stat even further.

Sharing carries in the run game with Keaton Mitchell would relieve Henry of some of the workload, potentially extending his time in Baltimore. The Ravens would get greater value for their money that way. Henry ran for 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns on 280 carries, which led the league in the previous season. In addition, he added 214 yards via the air by catching 28 balls.
