According to reports, Aston Villa will have to “sell several players this summer” in order to comply with the profit and sustainability regulations (PSR) of the Premier League.

PSR has drawn more attention in recent months following Everton’s contentious 10-point deduction for a violation.

After an appeal, the deduction was lowered to six points, but Nottingham Forest has also been charged, and the Toffees are facing a second one.

Journalist Kieran Maguire claims that Aston Villa is currently experiencing “big losses” and may have to let go of some of their best players as a result.

“Aston Villa has made large investments and is currently facing severe losses.

They have had the £100million Jack Grealish sale to Manchester City as a get-out-of-jail-free card for three seasons. But that expires on 30 June 2024 and so will no longer be accounted for.

“They do have some desirable playing assets so it’s now a case of acting smart. But they will probably have to sell to buy in the upcoming summer window

According to Maguire, Aston Villa boasts superstar players who are being pursued by some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

For instance, Ollie Watkins is rumored to be a top target for Arsenal as Mikel Arteta prepares to add a fresh, potent striker to the team in the summer.

With 14 goals in 26 Premier League games this season, the England international has been on fire, leading his team to fourth place in the standings.

Watkins now shares third place among scorers in the Premier League. He might be a game-changing addition for the Gunners if he could replicate that form.

According to reports, Aston Villa is reportedly open to offers for the 28-year-old charmer around £75 million, but if he continues to score goals, that amount might rise.

Arsenal isn’t just focused on Villains star Watkins, though. It’s no secret that Douglas Luiz is one of Arteta’s top objectives in his search for a new midfield player.

Similar to Watkins, Luiz has contributed significantly to Aston Villa’s successful season, tallying nine goals and dishing out nine assists in 25 league games.
