Joe Mazzulla, the head coach of the Boston Celtics, employs unconventional techniques, such as playing classical music during practice.

With a 46-12 record, the Boston Celtics hold the greatest record in the NBA thanks to their superb play this season, akin to that of a world-class orchestra. If the players on the Celtics are the conductors who keep everything in harmony, then head coach Joe Mazzulla is the pianist.

Mazzulla has apparently taken that duty seriously as well, as Celtics in-house reporter Taylor Snow reports that he has listened to classical music throughout workouts. Mazzulla’s musical inventiveness was commended by Celtics assistant coach Charles Lee in response to a question concerning the Green Team’s behind-the-scenes activities.

I remember one particular drill we had in Philly’, Lee said. Joe stressed the importance of keeping the music playing and not having the ball simply stop, so we wanted to improve our offensive spacing and teamwork. In the end, he played Mozart in the background while instructing them to move up and down the court using nonverbal communication.

Lee claimed that despite Boston’s poor shooting after that practice, Mazzulla’s distinctive style aided the team’s ball movement.

Lee said, “And then we go out against Philly that night, and it immediately translated to the game.” “We thought we did a great job passing the ball, and I think we missed a lot of shots, but the ball did not stop moving.”

With the greatest offensive rating in the NBA, the Celtics may have lost some of their games as a result of this musical approach. The two best players in Boston, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, are also moving the ball more adeptly than before. Both of them are currently recording career-high assist totals, and Tatum even had eight of his own on Tuesday night as Boston defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 117-99.

Naturally, feeding near-All-Stars like Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jrue Holiday should increase anyone’s passing totals. For the most of 2023–24, the Boston team’s well-rounded offence has been incredibly effective thanks to their abundance of weapons.

The final aim, as always, won’t come during the regular. Boston is putting everything on the line to win a championship because it hasn’t done so in more than 15 years. Any Boston sports fan would be thrilled to hear that the Celtics have a strong chance to win banner No. 18 if they can maintain their winning ways during the postseason.
