Now that the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine has begun, the first results for two position groups have been released. Actually, it’s three, but an edge rusher is a linebacker who plays defensive line. Before we discuss those guys’ results, I asked Mile High Report’s Scotty Payne who he believed the Denver Broncos could be interested in from this group.
In the unfortunate case that Denver decides not to select a quarterback early, he focused on possible targets with the 12th overall pick because it is too early to estimate which players might end up later round picks. He is a huge fan of Florida State’s Jared Verse and Alabama’s Dallas Turner. Both performed admirably in today’s combine events.
As stated by 9NEWS At the NFL Scouting Combine, Denver’s Mike Klis and the Denver Broncos conducted formal interviews with quarterbacks Caleb Williams of USC, Drake Maye of North Carolina, and Jayden Daniels of LSU.
According to early reports, they have or will meet with quarterback prospects from Tulane, Oregon, J.J. McCarthy of Michigan, Michael Penix Jr., and Oregon, but it appears like they have one-on-one meetings with every top prospect. In addition, Klis notes that Payton and the Broncos conducted a formal interview with Spencer Rattler of South Carolina, indicating that they are obviously doing their homework on the quarterbacks.
Right now, it is anticipated that your first three draft selections will be Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels. The Chicago Bears are expected to select Caleb Williams with the first overall pick, while the Commanders and Patriots are expected to select Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye with the second and third overall picks, respectively. The Broncos must research all three of those teams if one were to decline or if they were considering an offer.
The Broncos would benefit greatly from having all three of them. According to head coach Sean Payton, teams may dump Caleb Williams in 2022, Jayden Daniels is a Heisman winner who can be a dual threat, and Drake Maye fits in well with the Sean Payton offence.
George Paton, the general manager of the Broncos, had previously stated that they will meet with J.J. McCarthy, the quarterback for Michigan, and Klis has confirmed that earlier this week. We’ll see what transpires following the Combine, but there have been a lot of connections made between McCarthy and the Broncos in recent weeks. Many people anticipate that the gifted quarterback will shine during interviews. McCarthy appears to be the early favourite to start at quarterback for the Broncos, but this is only early.
