Wanted: Centre back to make debut against Man United - Liverpool FC - This Is Anfield Brendan Rodgers has explained his approach to a few members of the media while demonstrating how it remains the same from Ange Postecoglou, his predecessor. The Irishman reportedly hauled out a television and seated members of the written media group down before giving a tactical briefing, according to the Daily Record. Keith Jackson made a statement about the manager’s eight goal clips, four from Ange’s first tenure and four from his second.

The purpose, the report says, was for Rodgers to highlight that his attacking style had not changed but the quality in the front line was different – losing Jota, Abada, Giakoumakis, Aaron Mooy and Carl Starfelt – as well as the injured Reo Hatate.

It is telling that Celtic responded after the Tuesday briefing by clicking into form and putting seven goals by Dundee. It was a statement win and one in which Rodgers will expect to continue away to Hearts.

During his two years with the club, Postecoglou won five of the six titles that were available to him. Fans loved his style of play and his tenacity on the field. Tottenham Hotspur decided to bring the Australian to London after being drawn to his style and achievements.
