The New England Patriots are clearly in rebuild mode now that they have parted company with iconic coach Bill Belichick. Additionally, some stars will be traded, as is the case with most clubs that are prepared to start over. A component of Foxborough’s purported “youth movement” will involve trading for former first-round wide receiver DeVante Parker.

With Ryan Fitzpatrick handing him the ball, Parker enjoyed a breakout season in 2019 with 72 receptions for 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns. Parker was selected by the Miami Dolphins as the 14th overall choice in the 2015 NFL Draft. He landed in New England by trade two seasons later, but he hasn’t been able to repeat that success.

He had just 33 receptions for 394 yards and no touchdowns in 2023, and he expressed dissatisfaction with both his position on the squad and his quarterback play.

The Patriots are reportedly looking to trade Parker and will now take whatever offer they receive for him, according to The Athletic. “Due to the contract extension Belichick gave the now-31-year-old wideout last season, it’s not easy to cut Parker before June 1,” The Athletic stated. If they did, they would open up very little extra cap room and suffer dead cap of almost $6 million.

However, if they move Parker, they may save up more than $3 million in cap space, which might be a bit of a loophole. Therefore, expect the Patriots to hold out for Parker in trade negotiations in the upcoming weeks, even if their only offer would be a late-round selection.”

As the new league year begins on March 13, the Ravens will be trying to replace both Devin Duvernay and Odell Beckham Jr., who are both free agents. With Zay Flowers, a first-round choice from the previous year, heading into his second season, Baltimore might use a seasoned wideout who can play as a cheap number two. Parker might be a good fit for the Ravens in that regard.
