Phoenix Suns reportedly have interest in recently-released Shake Milton, who had played with the Minnesota Timberwolves prior to a deal in which he was acquired and then released by Detroit.

The Suns’ interest in Milton is first reported and confirmed by John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports.

In 38 games with the Wolves, Milton averaged 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists on 40.3 percent shooting. He is a candidate to fill Phoenix’s 15th and last roster position.

Royce O’Neale, a wing, was just acquired by the Suns during the trade deadline. O’Neale will be a part of the team’s postseason rotation because he is averaging 9.0 points and 6.1 rebounds in Phoenix. Another addition to the Suns roster is 35-year-old left-handed hustler Thaddeus Young.

The Dallas Mavericks selected Milton with the 54th overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft. The Suns’ point-guard situation is precarious; Devin Booker, who is averaging 7.0 assists, starts at the position, and guard Bradley Beal also handles the ball in Phoenix’s offense.

Milton’s best NBA season occurred in 2020–21, when he averaged 13.0 points in 60 games for the Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid. Despite the fact that the NBA season was shortened due to COVID, Milton had a significant impact on the team.
