Three layers make up a fairly tidy arrangement of the Western Conference Standings. There are three distinct groups: the top four, the 5–10, and the bottom 5. The order within the levels is likely to alter more than the tiers themselves, barring some really absurd late-season hijinks.

The Kings are unquestionably part of that 5–10 group, and that group’s ranking varies every day. The Kings are currently sixth in the West after several significant losses by other teams over the weekend. Down the stretch, every victory and every defeat for every club in that division matters. The Kings must seize every chance left the rest of the way if they are to avoid the play-in round.

Kings: Is De'Aaron Fox playing vs. Bulls? Latest injury update

On February 3rd, the Kings defeated the Bulls 123-115. The Kings got off to a quick lead—up to 30 points—but they faltered in the third quarter, letting Chicago get back into the game. De’Aaron Fox’s heroics in the final moments of the game ensured the win.

The Kings played a complete game, including overtime, with excellent execution in their victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. Even without De’Aaron Fox, who sat due to a knee injury, the outcome was a significant road victory over one of the top teams in the West.

Fox is doubtful going into today’s match, so the Kings may be without their best point guard once more. The Kings have previously seen what happens when Sacramento lets up on the pressure from the Bulls. Can the Kings stay focused against a lesser foe after a players-only meeting following the Denver loss?
