Despite the Boston Celtics’ and Joe Mazzulla’s impressive February, he was not awarded the NBA’s Eastern Conference Coach of the Month title. Erik Spoelstra was the winner instead; his Miami Heat finished 8-3 last month, which included a loss to Mazzulla’s Celtics, which allowed Boston to win the season sweep.

Boston finished the month of February with a 9-1 record, two wins with 50 points and one with 40. Mazzulla has received two Coach of the Month accolades in his career, but it wasn’t enough for him to get the recognition.

Mazzulla won’t likely be having sleepless nights over it, but many on social media and among Celtics supporters felt the second-year coach was passed up.

However, Jayson Tatum’s recognition as the Eastern Conference Player of the Month following his average of 27.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game is wonderful news for Celtics supporters.

There isn’t another regular-season meeting between the Heat and the Celtics. but might face again in the playoffs in a replay of the Eastern Conference Final from the previous season, in which Miami almost lost in Game 7 while holding a 3-0 lead, ultimately winning to go to the NBA Finals.

Tuesday night, Boston will try to win for the 12th time straight away from the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road after a record blowout victory over the Golden State Warriors.
