General manager of the New York Giants Joe Schoen has stated publicly during his season-ending press conference that the team still has faith in struggling quarterback Daniel Jones.

In the previous season, Barkley appeared in 14 games, sidelined for three due to a high ankle sprain. He recorded 962 rushing yards and six touchdowns along with 41 receptions, including four touchdowns.

Barkley has accumulated 5,211 running yards and 35 touchdowns since joining the Giants. The former Penn State player has also caught 288 passes for 2,100 yards and 12 touchdowns.

After tearing his ACL in the second week of the 2020 season, Barkley was out for the most of the season. Despite his difficulties in 2021, Barkley bounced back the next season, racking up 1,312 running yards and 10 touchdowns to help the Giants to their first postseason appearance since 2016.

Additionally, the Giants declined to use the franchise tag on safety Xavier McKinney, enabling him to bargain for a new deal. The 24-year-old, a crucial member of the defense team, finished the previous season as the Giants’ second-leading tackler and was involved in every defensive play.
