Ange Postecoglou, the former head coach of Celtic, might visit Scotland prior to the upcoming campaign. During the summer, his new team, Tottenham Hotspur,’may perhaps’ play a team in Scotland in a pre-season friendly.Brendan Rodgers opens up on Celtic 'regrets' over emotional exit as he sends message to fans 'who don't want me here' | The Sun

Journalist Alasdair Gold claims in a story posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account that any pre-season friendly in Scotland would happen prior to Spurs’ scheduled pre-season Asian tour. Furthermore, they probably won’t play more than one match in Scotland before to the start of their actual training camp; it all depends on who they play.

Postecoglou was a highly popular figure during his time at Celtic Park. During his two seasons in Scotland, the Australian only failed to pick up one domestic trophy – the Scottish Cup in 2021/22, which was picked up by Rangers. Outside of this, he won two Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish League Cup trophies and the Scottish Cup in the 2022/23 campaign. After he left the club to join the Lilywhites in the summer of 2023, he was replaced by Brendan Rodgers.

On X, Gold said: “Understand Spurs could potentially play a pre-season friendly in Scotland ahead of their three-game Asia tour this summer as Ange Postecoglou gets his squad ready for next season.” Even if Tottenham decides to play in Scotland at all during their preseason training, it is yet unknown who they will select to play against. However, it is likely that Celtic would be the best choice for them; not only would the Hoops give Spurs more competition than most teams in the Scottish Premiership and SPFL, but it also makes sense considering Postecoglou’s previous ties to the squad.
