Steph Chambers/Getty ImagesZach Ertz’s time with the Detroit Lions was brief. From the moment of his signing in the middle of the playoffs, it was evident that his role would be limited to backup for a club experiencing an unanticipated ascent.

However, it seems like his experience working with Dan Campbell left nothing but good memories for the one-time Super Bowl champion. He had nothing but positive words to say about his time with the team.

Zach Ertz stopped by the Pat McAfee show to discuss the most recent developments in his professional life. He did explain his present circumstances with the Washington Commanders, but he also touched on his previous experience with the Lions, having been selected as a depth option in the midst of the postseason.

“Everyone is aware that the game was not completed. “Man, it was hard to watch,” Ertz remarked on the Pat McAfee Show. “I desired to be outside. Simply said, I adore Sam LaPorta, Steve Heiden is my guy, Dan Campbell is my favorite tight end coach, and I like Detroit. So, having fun outside was great. It was wonderful to be back in a culture that was competing for an NFC Championship, especially in light of all the drama that occurred in Arizona.

“The plan was to play in the Super Bowl, which would have been insane with everything that happened in the past year and a half.”

In Super Bowl LII, Ertz’s Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots, who were led by the highly skilled Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, to win his first Super Bowl with the team. He knows and understands what it takes to win a Lombardi trophy because of his time spent with the Eagles.
