Liel Abada, who recently completed his high-profile transfer from Celtic to Charlotte FC, says he is eager to start.

The Israeli winger chose to conclude his three-year stay at Parkhead and was formally unveiled with the MLS club. The striker was reportedly signed for a club record sum of up to £10 million by Charlotte, with the Celtics expected to profit handsomely from the £3.5 million they paid Maccabi Petah Tikva in 2021.

Abada’s discontent at the Scottish champions stemmed from the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine. The 22-year-old faced intense pressure from his home country to leave Celtic due to the Green Brigade’s and Hoops’ widely publicized support for the Palestinian people.

After making his most recent substitute appearance away to Hibs last month, Abada was declared unavailable for selection, with Brendan Rodgers stating he “wasn’t in the right frame of mind to play.” The Treble winner signed a deal that runs through 2026 with a 12-month extension option, but now he wants to start again in the United States.

“Hey Charlotte fans, it’s Liel Abada here,” Abada said in a video message to his new followers, making his first public remarks since joining Dean Smith’s side. I’m overjoyed to join the group. I can’t wait to perform at Bank of America Stadium. Hopefully, I’ll see you soon. In the name of the Crown.
