Even though the Baltimore Ravens are reportedly interested in adding a running back in free agency, they would still gain from choosing a rusher in the NFL Draft.

Prospect running back Blake Corum of the Michigan Wolverines is one player who could help the Ravens’ run game.

In addition to the fact that Corum previously played college ball with head coach John Harbaugh’s brother Jim, adding a back like him might make a ton of sense on the field, even in the face of rumors that Baltimore could be Derrick Henry’s final destination.

Corum might be an effective lead rusher or a running back who changes pace. Despite their extreme physical differences—Corum is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 205 pounds—both Henry and Corum have excelled on the field.

Over the past two seasons, Corum has averaged 1,354 yards from scrimmage, 23.5 touchdowns per season, and 5.4 yards per carry. His production this past season en route to the Wolverines winning the College Football Championship is even more impressive when considering that he was coming off of a knee injury as a junior that required surgery to repair his meniscus.

2024 Draft Watch: Michigan Runningback Blake Corum

Corum’s performance at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis was good. He ran the 40-yard dash in the twelfth fastest time (4.53 seconds), tied for the eighth fastest 10-yard split (1.58 seconds), had the eighth-highest vertical (35.5 inches), finished second in the three-cone drill (6.82 seconds; just.01 seconds separated him from first place), finished third in the 20-yard shuttle (4.12 seconds), and displayed an incredible performance on the benchpress (27 reps of 225 pounds, tied for eighth among all players, position-neutralized) and first among running backs.

Coming off a knee injury, explosiveness typically doesn’t return to its pre-injury form until the second season after returning. If Corum becomes an even better athlete than his numbers indicate right now, he has the potential to become a starter later in his career.
