2022 NFL roster cuts: Patriots release 2 more players - Pats PulpitThe Vikings added more drama to the NFL draft a month before teams head to Detroit for the big night, and they’re likely to offer teams like the New England Patriots a huge haul of picks.

Minnesota on Friday and No. 232 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft from the Houston Texans in exchange for the No. 42 and No. 188 selections, plus a future pick.

After losing Kirk Cousins to the Atlanta Falcons and only inking Sam Darnold to a one-year contract, the Vikings are anticipated to be proactive and attempt to select one of the top four quarterbacks in the draft. It would be wise for Minnesota to select its quarterback, who might be Drake Maye considering his ties to the team, because there is a “strong expectation” that quarterbacks will go rapidly off the board.

The Vikings will probably get in touch with New England; in fact, they may have already done so in order to move up to No. 3. After only signing Jacoby Brissett this summer, the Patriots positioned themselves to select a quarterback; yet, it is also said that director of scouting and acting general manager Eliot Wolf wants to acquire additional draft picks.

Daniel Jeremiah stated on the Senior Bowl broadcast that he would be “stunned” if the Patriots choose not to select a quarterback, and he acknowledged as much in a conference call last month. On Friday, he restated those arguments.

“I feel like New England is stuck,” Jeremiah said to CBS Sports Radio’s Zach Gelb. “One is being taken by them. Based on what I’ve heard, it appears that they plan to remain at three. An $8–10 million quarterback was what they were after. They will choose the player of the future there at No. 3 because they have that in Jacoby Brissett.
