Head coach Doc Rivers gave an explanation for the Milwaukee Bucks’ late decision to bench star Giannis Antetokounmpo before their 140-129 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.

“There’s no wound there. According to Eric Nehm of The Athletic, Doc Rivers stated, “We’re just a little bit concerned.” Additionally, you have one, two, three, four, or five days off according to the schedule. We therefore instilled it in him, forcing him to do what we were glad he chose to do.

Thus, the Bucks were able to enjoy a victory while their top player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, was rested in the hopes that he would be more rested when the playoffs rolled around. He will take it easy until Wednesday, when the Bucks go to Boston to play the Celtics. This game should serve as a terrific yardstick for Milwaukee.

Cash adjusting to head coach Doc Rivers
The Bucks saw a slight decline following Rivers’ appointment as head coach in place of Adrian Griffin. They slipped in the Eastern Conference rankings a little. They are currently reclaiming second place in the Eastern Conference.

It’s probably impossible to catch the Celtics in the Eastern Conference. But it’s certain that the Bucks are going to play it safe in the last stretch of the campaign in an effort to preserve Antetokounmpo’s health and readiness for the postseason.

Rivers is seasoned in that environment, even though his postseason missteps earn him a lot of criticism. He’ll attempt to guide a seasoned squad to victory. Damian Lillard has never won; Antetokounmpo has.

This season, Rivers has shown that he and his squad are also thinking about the larger picture as the Bucks attempt to stave off the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks in the closing minutes.
