The main reason the Dallas Cowboys haven’t done anything in NFL Free Agency thus far is that they are unable to. The Cowboys have little leeway to maneuver because of the salary cap, but as the offseason goes on, they may be able to.

With the departure of previous first-round choice Tyron Smith, a franchise mainstay after being selected again in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Cowboys now have a clear need at left tackle. Smith ran off to join the New York Jets, where he will now cover Aaron Rodgers’ blind side.

What then will the Cowboys do with their left tackle position? There are still a lot of possibilities available at this time. The Cowboys have the 2024 NFL Draft in front of them, but they also have the option to wait until the offseason to let free agency to approach them. Former Green Bay Packers All-Pro David Bakhtiari, who was released earlier this summer to free up $20 million in salary contract space for the team, is one high-profile signing they might consider making.
