Birmingham City have let the midfielder head out the exit door on a temporary basis again.

Thorndike, 22, has made the switch to the Southern League Premier Division Central to get some game time.

The Blues have confirmed he will spend the rest of the season at Lye Meadow.

Thorndike’s Birmingham contract expires at the end of the current season, but the Championship team has the option to extend it by a another year, so they will need to decide when he returns.

Before joining the Blues in 2022, he was a player for Midlands rivals West Brom and Aston Villa.

Boston United came calling for him last term and he was allowed to join the National League North club to get some experience under his belt.

He played eight matches for the Pilgrims during his first spell and chipped in with two goals and two assists.

Thorndike returned to the Boston Community Stadium for a second stint last summer and featured for them on eight occasions during the first-half of this season before heading back to St Andrew’s in January.

Birmingham have now given him the green light to move to Alvechurch with his long-term future up in the air.
