Today is April Fools Day.

A day of playing pranks on unsuspecting folk. But yesterday the insufferable fool that is Kris Boyd decided to produce his a bit earlier than everyone else.

Well I can only assume it was a joke, a bit like Kris himself as he produced the most hilarious and entertaining bit of punditry seen on our screens for a while. Well since the last time he opened his mouth.

If you were comforted by what happened at Livingston yesterday you are a fool.  A 0-3 win for Celtic on a difficult pitch is irrelevant in light of what happened with the scores at 0-0.

During his half time analysis of the Livingston Celtic game he stated to a massive watching audience that the disgraceful decision not to award a penalty to Celtic was correct as Kyogo was already going to ground as the Livi defender made contact with him.

That’s despite several replays showing that not to be the case. Kyogo had his eyes fully focused on the ball and was only interested in making contact for a strike at goal before he was impeded. It might not have been a lot of contact, but there was enough contact to make him go down so it’s a foul, and ultimately a spot kick. A stonewaller and one that a referee could possibly miss but VAR could not. The entire purpose of clubs spending money on VAR is right here with this incident and theRangers supporter on VAR failed to do hi job, yet again. We all know why.

Kudos to Kris Boyd for keeping a straight face while spouting his nonsense, although the looks on the faces of fellow pundits Chris Sutton and Robert Snodgrass told its own story as they were clearly amused and amazed as the rest of us.

Chris Sutton to his credit rubbished Boyd’s claims and ridiculed him into the bargain.

Although Boyd has some comedy value, it’s not a good look for our game that we have to witness such a moronic, unhinged and bitter person analyse our games. He’s meant to be an ‘expert’ of our football, yet he looks and sounds as if he’s just been dragged out the louden Tavern worse for wear, miked up and thrown on national television.

It makes you wonder who the real April fools are. Those who employ him or those who listen to his inane drivel. Why is he even working on Celtic games?
