After Josh Harris and his ownership group took over at the start of the previous season and put in the work to get this team back on track, the Washington Commanders are hopeful that this will be the year that things finally get right. Longtime team owner Dan Snyder is no longer in charge.

With Sam Howell recently dealt to the Seattle Seahawks, Washington has already moved on from the quarterback position, therefore one of the most important decisions the team will have to make this NFL offseason is what to do at that position.

In addition to cutting ties with Howell, the Commanders acquired experienced quarterback Marcus Mariota in the offseason and plan to select a gifted young quarterback with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

According to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post, Washington signed veteran quarterback Jeff Driskel to bolster the quarterback room even further.

In the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Driskel was selected by the San Francisco 49ers.

Driskel’s time in the Bay Area was obviously short-lived, as he was picked the following year and went on to play for the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and Cleveland Browns.

Undoubtedly, Driskel has been a career backup in the NFL and has moved around the league a lot. Nevertheless, he keeps getting hired and will probably be near the bottom of the quarterback depth chart in Washington when the team either starts Mariota as the starting quarterback or puts a rookie quarterback in the starting lineup to start the following season.
