Over the years, Pride Park has hosted a number of players for Derby County, some of whom have left their mark on Rams legend.

But for a few, things were a little harder when they were at Pride Park, and they weren’t able to reach the levels that a lot of people had anticipated of them when they first joined the team.

Ikechi Anya turned out to be one of such players, even though he had already demonstrated his talent before joining Watford ahead of the 2016–17 season.

The Scottish player had great potential when he arrived to lead the Rams back to the Premier League, but many Derby supporters have forgotten about his time in the East Midlands.

Before traveling to Spain in 2009, Anya flitted about the lower echelons of the English football pyramid. In 2012, he returned to the UK with Watford while on loan from Granada.

Gianfranco Zola brought in seven players before the season, including Almen Abdi, Matej Vydra, and Manuel Almunia at Vicarage Road. The Scot was one of them.

The following season, after contributing 14 goals in his debut season with the Hornets and winning over supporters with his electrifying left-side performances, he would permanently join WD18.
