The third-place club will have a difficult time getting ready for the playoffs, according to Ipswich Town veteran Mick Mills, since Leicester City, Leeds United, and Ipswich are all vying for immediate promotion from the Championship.

Ipswich remains atop the Championship rankings after defeating Southampton 3-2 on Easter Monday, while Leeds United is ranked second in the league.
Leicester City is now third in the league table, but if they win their next games against Leeds and Ipswich, they might move up to the top once more.

Mills pointed out that as things stand all the top three teams will end up scoring more than 90 points this season, which should have been enough to clinch promotion in any other year.

He warned that the team finishing third are going to be bitterly disappointed and lifting themselves for the playoffs could be hard for them.

“That’s a phenomenal total as in some years teams were getting automatic promotion with 80-something points.
