Ipswich Town midfielder Idris El Mizouni, who is on loan at League One side Leyton Orient, has suffered a potentially season-ending injury.
The 23-year-old’s potential MCL injury was revealed by O’s manager Richie Wellens following their 1-0 loss to Lincoln City on Good Friday.
He continued: “We think it’s an MCL injury, so he’s likely to be out for two to three months, which coming to the end of the season it’s not too bad for him.”
El Mziouni is in his second season of loan at Brisbane Road. During the previous 18 months, he has been a great player at Orient, where he helped the team win League Two last season.
He has taken on the captain’s armband throughout this campaign in League One, making 45 appearances and scoring two goals as the newly-promoted side battle for the play-offs.
Overall he has played 89 games, scoring five goals during his two spells in East London.
Town’s contract with the Tunisian midfielder is set to expire this summer, but the Blues have the option to extend it by one more season.
Many third-tier clubs have taken notice of his remarkable performances since we revealed that Town turned down several low-ball, six-figure transfer offers from League One teams.
From Town’s youth ranks, he has made a total of 26 appearances for the Blues, scoring two goals. He has previously been on loan at Grimsby Town and Cambridge United.
