Thousands of Tasmania JackJumpers supporters flocked to Melbourne on Sunday night to witness the team’s historic victory as they won their first NBL championship.
The youthful squad overcame Melbourne United in the five-game championship series, winning the final game 83-81. The team achieved ultimate success in just its third NBL season.
Clint Steindl, the team captain, autographed Nic Moltow’s forehead at the home arena celebration held at Hobart’s Derwent Entertainment Centre.
Mr. Moltow acknowledged that the choice was made spur of the moment.
“They did a fantastic job out there, and I think spur of the moment is what they represent,” he stated.
Cam Mann and Arielle Abrahams, who declared themselves “ecstatic” at the Jackies’ victory, shared the same level of pleasure.
Mr. Mann stated, “I almost cried.”
