Ohio – This offseason, Ohio State finds itself in an unusual situation. A position coach who moved from Columbus to Ann Arbor needs to be replaced. After Tony Alford, the running backs coach, left for the Team Up North, Ryan Day had to find a replacement. Carlos Locklyn in Oregon is the one he located.
So far, Day likes what he’s seen from the new addition. “First off, when you hear about Carlos’ story, it’s captivating,” Day said on Wednesday. “Where he’s come from … and then you start to listen to his overall knowledge about the position, his aggressiveness in recruiting, the impact he’s had on people, the relationships he’s had with people, it was an absolute slam dunk for us.
Day is quite optimistic about Locklyn. “He’s already added an edge, toughness, and aggression in a short amount of time that I think will be excellent.”
The beginning of Locklyn’s career was as an offensive coordinator at four different high schools in Memphis when he was a coach. For him, Tennessee made logical because Chattanooga was his college. He began his career as an assistant at Memphis after spending years in the high school ranks. He also made trips at Florida State, Western Kentucky, and Oregon.
