The Golden State Warriors are still aiming for a top-eight seed with two games left in the regular season. Although it was starting to seem likely that the Warriors would place tenth, their performance in the latter part of the season and some significant defeats suffered by teams ahead of them have paved the way for them to take the eighth slot.

When the Warriors play the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night, they will continue their chase for the eighth spot. Steph Curry is eligible to play according to Golden State’s injury report, which is accessible for viewing.

On Thursday night, the Pelicans and Warriors both had games; the Warriors won over the Portland Trail Blazers, while New Orleans defeated the Sacramento Kings. The Pelicans were able to hold onto sixth place while the Warriors were able to tie Sacramento in both of these games, which had an effect on the rankings.

Because of their superior Pacific Division record, the Kings hold the tiebreaker over Golden State; but, if Sacramento were to suffer one more setback, Golden State would overtake them in the standings. This would obviously depend on the Warriors winning their final two games, which increases the significance of their matchup with New Orleans on Friday night.

As was already established, the Pelicans are only one game ahead of the seventh-seeded Phoenix Suns, so they too have a lot on the line. This matchup between two clubs in dire need of victories ought to be entertaining.
