On Tuesday, the Washington Commanders cut down on the quarterback’s room by cutting Jake Fromm. In October 2022, Fromm joined on to the Commanders practice squad, where he played for the majority of the previous two seasons. Before being taken by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Fromm attended Georgia from 2017 to 2019. He threw for 8,224 yards, 78 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions in college, but he hasn’t had the same kind of success in the NFL.

He was signed by the New York Giants off their practice squad in 2021, and he made three appearances, including two starts, in that campaign. Fromm, 25, was 0-2 in his NFL debut as a starter, completing 27 of 60 passes (45 percent) for 210 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. In March, Washington received draft picks in exchange for trading starter quarterback Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks. With the second overall pick in the April draft, the Commanders chose LSU’s Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, Jayden Daniels.
