Dentist visit followed big Thursday night win for Bengals' TaylorThe Cincinnati Bengals’ wide receiver position promises to be exciting in the summer in 2024.

Prodigy Ja’Marr Chase is eligible for an extension, while Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd are scheduled to become free agents eventually. It’s also improbable that all three of the Bengals’ pass-catchers will sign new contracts at the same time, even though they do have almost $60 million in salary space available this spring.

writer Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report, that might make Boyd the odd man out. Ballentine listed the “biggest strength” of each NFL roster going into the offseason on February 5.

The analyst selected “pass-catchers” for Cincinnati, but his complimentary assessment soon became potentially harmful.

Ballentine declared, “Tyler Boyd remains one of the league’s most overqualified No. 3 receivers.” “In 2023, the former second-round pick caught 67 passes for 667 yards and two touchdowns.”

Proceeding: “It will be challenging to keep this bunch together throughout the offseason. Boyd and Higgins are both unrestricted free agents, but [running back Joe] Mixon will have a $8.9 million cap hit.

After considering all of this, Ballentine came to the conclusion that “Boyd could be replaced through the draft, while Higgins figures to be a candidate for the franchise tag.”

Will the Bengals terminate Tyler Boyd’s eight-year tenure in 2024?
Boyd was originally selected by the Bengals in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, as Ballentine noted. The eight-year veteran slot specialist has played his whole career in Cincinnati, where he has posted two 1,000-yard seasons.

Since joining the league, Boyd’s approach has always been centered around consistency. Throughout his NFL career, he has only made appearances in fewer than 14 games once (10 games in 2017). And according to Over the Cap, he ultimately made about $44.03 million on a four-year extension that had only previously promised $43 million before incentives.
