Antonio Pierce was successfully appointed as the Las Vegas Raiders’ full-time head coach earlier this summer, following his performance in an interim capacity the previous season. He is currently rounding up his staff. This has resulted in a type of reunion between him and James Cregg, a former Raiders assistant who had won a Super Bowl.

Over the course of the last 25 years, Cregg has served in a variety of capacities as an assistant coach, having worked with the Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and San Francisco 49ers in the NFL. This time, Cregg will be back in town, but this time he will be joining Pierce’s team as the offensive line coach, rather than serving as an assistant offensive line coach as he did in 2007 and 2008.

According to a source, James Cregg will be joining the Raiders as their next offensive line coach. The former LSU assistant OL coach was also a coach with the 49ers.

James Cregg is hoped to strengthen the Raiders’ offensive line.

Throughout his coaching career, Cregg has worked extensively with offensive lines, and he was a major contributor to the 49ers’ o-line being a formidable unit the last two seasons. After their offensive line faltered in 2023, Las Vegas will now be hoping he can have a similar effect for them.

Cregg has the expertise necessary to assist the Raiders turn things around when it comes to keeping their quarterback upright and creating space on the ground for their running backs. Cregg was a member of the Broncos championship squad for Super Bowl 50. Though Cregg will undoubtedly have his work cut out for him, it’s safe to say Pierce made a wise appointment that could ultimately pay off handsomely.
