According to Beren Cross, Daniel Farke fell to his knees after Joel Piroe squandered a fantastic opportunity to tie the score in Leeds United’s 2-1 loss to Coventry.

The reporter for Leeds Live described how Mateo Joseph played Piroe through and then he missed the opportunity to roll the ball directly at goalkeeper Bradley Collins.

Defeat at the Coventry Building Society Arena saw Leeds fail to make the most of the opportunity presented to them in the title race as Ipswich lost to Norwich earlier in the day.

Leeds would have moved above Ipswich with even a point against Coventry, so when Piroe got the chance to grab that point in spite of an awful performance all around, he had to take it to aid Leeds in their promotion bid.

Leicester has reclaimed first position and has one game remaining against both Ipswich and Leeds. However, this must be considered a lost opportunity as the second automatic promotion spot is now up for grabs.

Chris Sutton foresaw the blow to Ipswich against Norwich, but following Piroe’s unfortunate miss, his prediction that a loss would be a “hammer blow” to their promotion ambitions ultimately proved to be unfounded.

With the playoffs potentially approaching, Farke will need to help his team bounce back from the setback and make sure they beat Sunderland. Leeds cannot afford a slump in performance at this time in the season.

Crysencio Summerville’s future is currently uncertain, according to previous Leeds United news.
