This summer, Derby County entered the competition to sign former Nottingham Forest playmaker Ateef Konate, and one EFL analyst thinks Pride Park is the ideal location for him to play on a regular basis for the first team.

The Rams were promoted to the Championship on the last day of the 2023–24 season after defeating Carlisle United 2-0 in April. Throughout the season, teams like Bolton Wanderers and Peterborough United threatened to unseat the Rams in the automatic spots, but the Rams ultimately prevailed.

However, work has now been taking place off the pitch to strengthen the squad and head coach Paul Warne will undoubtedly be grinding hard with the recruitment department to identify players to sign who can help the team consolidate in a stronger division, albeit with a lesser budget than the majority of clubs in England’s second tier.

AfricaFoot published a story last week asserting that Derby County was monitoring Konate, who was recently let go by fierce rivals Nottingham Forest in the Premier League after four years with the team and no appearances in the top division.
