In 2024, the Las Vegas Raiders will have a new general manager, thus it’s critical that they choose someone with strong draft skills. One of the main reasons for their struggles has been the team’s long history of struggles in the draft.

The Raiders’ hiring decisions could result in significant roster adjustments. According to Bleacher Report, the team may renovate their wide receiver room and select Rome Odunze of Washington with their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Quarterback is still unclear. Davante Adams, an experienced wide receiver, could be dealt. The NFL Scouting Department of Bleacher Report stated in a post that some players signed by former head coach Josh McDaniels, like wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, might not be a long-term fit in Sin City.

“Instead, the Raiders can start over and add a top player like Rome Odunze of Washington.”

It wouldn’t make sense to select a wide receiver in the first round with the current roster, but if Davante Adams is dealt and Hunter Renfrow is cut, it would become a need.

Scouting Report on Rome Odunze

With Washington, Rome Odunze had a fantastic season, completing 92 passes for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns. He became one of college football’s top wide receivers and is probably going to be selected in the first round.

Bleacher Report’s Derrik Klassen provided a very favourable scouting report on Odunze.

Odunze is primarily a vertical ball-winner, but Klassen pointed out that he has a lot more to offer. “The two-time first-team All-Pac-12 selection is a smart, natural route-runner who understands how to make himself friendly to the quarterback. He has the quickness and flexibility to be deployed as more than just a ball-winner down the pitch, and he can play both inside

It’s also important to remember that Odunze attended Bishop Gorman High School and was reared in Las Vegas, Nevada. If the Raiders selected him in the draft, they would be returning a hometown hero. At six feet three, Odunze is a terrific size and quick. He is equipped with everything needed to succeed as an NFL wide receiver.

Las Vegas Raiders Have Bigger Needs

Rome Odunze has the makings of one of the NFL’s top wide receivers, but the Raiders’ roster needs are far more pressing. Nothing on the team’s end suggests that Davante Adams will be traded, and if he stays, they won’t need to utilise a first-round choice to fill the position.

The biggest need the Raiders have is at quarterback. To get the quarterback of the future should be the main objective of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Raiders would be better served by addressing offensive or defensive lines in the first round if no desirable options were available. A top cornerback may also be needed by the team.

Wide receiver is actually one of the stronger position groups on the Raiders right now. Jakobi Meyers is a very good No. 2 and Tre Tucker showed strong flashes as a rookie. Odunze coming back home would be a good story but the Raiders drafting a wide receiver would be a surprise unless the roster undergoes big changes before the draft.
