The former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban is a name that would get attention in the football world should the Dallas Cowboys soon be looking to replace their head coach. Head coach Mike McCarthy is still under contract with the Cowboys.

Yet, McCarthy’s future is in doubt following the team’s lopsided loss to the Green Bay Packers. Could Saban be interested in another opportunity to address the one imperfection on his otherwise flawless resume—his lack of NFL success?

Nick Saban won't rest and is far from satisfied

Pete Carroll, the former coach of the Seattle Seahawks, is regarded by ESPN’s Kevin Clark as Dallas’ greatest substitute, and his analysis merits more study. Saban comes in close second on the analyst’s list. It seems unlikely that owner Jerry Jones could entice head coach Nick Saban to come to Big D because the coach recently retired.

In a January 15, 2024 episode of “This Is Football,” Clark said, “The second person I would call is Nick Saban, one of the best coaches in the history of football. [A] poor rap in Miami.”He couldn’t relate to millionaire athletes,” some people said. That is not the case.

“Once the [Dolphins] doctors told him he couldn’t sign Drew Brees, he felt he couldn’t control his own destiny and left [for] the college game.” Thus, he stated, “It is 100% true that even if you play flawlessly in the NFL, you might not win,” Clark went on.

On the other hand, he was aware that in college, achieving perfection would get him five stars. The national titles are yours. You prepare food. The NFL is somewhat confused by things like free agency and the draft.

With seven national crowns and eleven SEC championships under his belt, it is difficult to disagree with Saban’s record. Not to mention the countless Alabama players under Saban who have gone on to have excellent NFL careers.
