Callum Wilson, a striker for Newcastle, had surgery on his chest and may miss a significant portion of the remaining games.

“It is definitely a major setback for him,” Eddie Howe, manager of Newcastle, stated.
“He’s had an inconsistent season. We’re hoping he returns before the season concludes.”

Wilson played the entire match against Forest, but towards the end, he made a sling out of his shirt.

It was an unusual wound. At the conclusion, he engaged the centre back in a brawl.

“We had it scanned and hoped initially he could continue, but when he went to see a specialist I think it was apparent quite early that he needed it operating on.”
On Saturday, Newcastle, currently ranked seventh in the league, will face Bournemouth.
The season ends on May 19; they have 14 games left.
Wilson played for England when they defeated Scotland in a September friendly.
The next month, England will play friendlies against Belgium and Brazil before the commencement of Euro 2024 on June 14.
Howe, meanwhile, stated that he is seeking a “short resolution” over Dan Ashworth’s future as Newcastle’s sporting director.

Ashworth has been contacted by Manchester United to take up a comparable position at Old Trafford.
Howe claimed Ashworth had not promised to stay, but on Friday morning, he stated, “As of right now, we’ve had no contact from anyone.”It’s a rather unique circumstance. This is considerably different from the usual player transfer rumours.
