Over the past few weeks, the Notre Dame football team has increased the volume of their 2026 recruiting. Although the majority of the team’s fresh offers were extended to students in that class on Pot of Gold Day, it seems that Marcus Freeman and associates are still in the process of determining which additional students in the class would like to be Fighting Irish members.

The Notre Dame football program made another top-ranked 2026 recruit available on Saturday. This athlete is still searching for a permanent spot at the next level. Shavar Young Jr. is unquestionably one of the greatest “Athletes” in the class and has the potential to play defensive back or receiver at the next level until that time.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Webb School of Knoxville product was in South Bend to watch the Notre Dame football spring practices. Hoping that he liked what he saw, the Fighting Irish staff clearly liked what they saw and heard from him and the athlete announced he’d received an official offer on X

“Tennessee offering me a scholarship meant a lot,” Young told Rivals back when they first offered him. “It does mean a lot because it’s practically my backyard. I grew up here and have a lot of family and friends here.”
