The Eagles’ head coach Nick Sirianni is almost certain to return, but his staff is undergoing a significant overhaul. According to NFL Media, Brian Johnson is leaving as offensive coordinator, making this the second year in a row that the Eagles would be replacing both coordinators. Ron Rivera is one of the contenders to take over for the fired Sean Desai as defensive coordinator.

After leading the NFL’s eighth-ranked team and failing to produce consistent results throughout Philly’s 1-6 season, which included a crushing playoff loss to the Buccaneers, Johnson, 36, will not be returning to the Eagles. As ESPN has reported, the former quarterbacks coach struggled to integrate Sirianni’s system with his idea of maximizing Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Johnson recently attended interviews with the Titans and Falcons for two separate head coaching positions.

While Howie Roseman, general manager of the Eagles, and Sirianni are formally slated to speak with local reporters on Wednesday, it appears that Sirianni is set to become the head coach for 2024. After the 2023 season, the team did not make any public comments about Sirianni’s future, even though there were several stories suggesting he might be traded.

When Shane Steichen was hired as the Colts head coach and Jonathan Gannon took the helm with the Cardinals, Sirianni lost both coordinators from the previous season.

In his three years as head coach, the 42-year-old has led the team to 34-17 record and three consecutive postseason appearances, including a 2022 Super Bowl bid. However, his Eagles had a disastrous collapse after a 10-1 start in 2023, and his defense deteriorated to rank among the worst in the NFL after he abruptly relieved rookie defensive coordinator Desai of his play-calling responsibilities in December.
