Begovic, 36, has attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs as well as West Ham and Newcastle who are interested in signing him as a backup keeper.

Begovic left Everton last summer and signed a one-year contract with QPR.

It meant the Bosnian, who played for Chelsea from 2015 to 2017, would be heading back to west London.

He has also had stints at Portsmouth, Stoke, and Bournemouth during his career in England.

Before Joe Walsh was chosen at Coventry in the season’s penultimate game, Begovic was always present for Rangers in the Championship the previous year.

“He’s a good player, a young player that can develop a lot and can help us a lot in the future,” stated Head Coach Cifuentes.

Jimmy Dunne’s contract extension option was accepted by Rangers, the team announced on Tuesday.

Among the players without contracts vying for a new contract is goalkeeper Joe Walsh.

The 22-year-old, who earlier in the season experienced a loan stint at Accrington Stanley, earned his Championship debut in the victory at Coventry on Saturday.
